Submitted by NimrodOnElmStreet on Thu, 03/11/2010 - 14:56
The long awaited "Green Day: Rock Band" will be available worldwide on June 8th on Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii. The game will include up to three microphones and three instruments! Players will be able to unlock collectible images and 40 minutes of "rare and unreleased" footage from interviews, performances and outtakes as the game progresses.
This rockin' game will also be using the same vocal harmonizing as "The Beatles: Rock Band" and comes fully loaded with 47 awesome Green Day tunes such as: "Brain Stew", "Jaded", "Hitchin' a Ride", "American Idiot", "Wake Me Up When September Ends" and "Boulevard of Broken Dreams".
Also, all of the 47 tracks will be able to fully export to a console hard drive and are playable in Rock Band and Rock Band 2, plus the upcoming Rock Band: 3 for $9.99 via Xbox Live or Playstation Networks. If you already downloaded the six tracks that were available as DLC, these too can be playable with added harmonies, " 'unique' visuals and more 'exclusive archival material".
"Green Day: Rock Band" will also come as a standalone game for Xbox and Playstaion 3 for a relatively modest $59.99, while the Wii owners can cough up just $49.99 for their copy. The special edition "GD: RB Plus" will come on these gaming consoles for $69.99 and include not only fancy packaging, but will come featuring an "export" feature, which is assumed to probably be a voucher to "export the disc tracks to the hard drive", as well as the six previously released tracks.
For those of you who want to pre-order, there's a bonus for the standalone game from Game Stop which comes with a voucher for Xbox and PS3. What does this mean to you? Well, if you decide to order this awesome game early, you'll be able to export all these 47 tracks to your hard drive for FREE! I know @NimrodGod is excited about this and will be placing his Pre-Order soon!

Foo Fighters Plan "Heavy" Album With Butch Vig
Submitted by NimrodOnElmStreet on Wed, 03/10/2010 - 15:18
Foo Fighters are heading in to the studio to record their next album as announced by Dave Grohl at the Independent Spirit Awards last Friday night. That's not all, they will also be working with producer extraordinaire, Butch Vig!
This reunion between Vig and Grohl is thanks partly to the fact that it marks the 20th anniversary since Nirvana's "Nevermind", which you guessed it, was also produced by Butch in 1991. “Me and [Foos drummer] Taylor [Hawkins] have already started demoing songs,” Grohl told Rolling Stone.
However, this album will definitely be a little different than its predecessor which was recorded at their cutting edge, Studio 606, which the Fighters own. This new Foo project will be recorded entirely in analog, which means out of Grohl's dandy garage. When asked about the noise complaints from his neighbors, this front-man replied, “We’re doing a test on Monday. I think this could be our heaviest album yet."
This will be the follow up to 2007's, "Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace" and although the month of September has been tossed around, there's no firm release date as of yet. The new Foo's will also be featuring a documentary celebrating the band's 16 years together, and will take a behind the scenes look at the album's recording process. Dave was inspired to do this by the movie "Anvil! The Story of Anvil" and encouraged everyone at the Independent ceremony to view the film that made him cry. “If I stay another minute, I’m gonna get so fucking drunk, I’ll barf all over myself.”
I have to say that I'm wicked excited for the new Foo album, can't wait for this!

Evanescence Take On Electro Pop
Submitted by NimrodOnElmStreet on Mon, 03/08/2010 - 14:15
Evanescence is adding a different twist to their usual dark and gloomy goth rock style, and instead opting for a fresh electro-pop approach.
Amy Lee has dropped names of bands who have influenced her latest style, such as: Depeche Mode, Massive Attack, Portishead, CSS, Bjork, La Roux and MGMT. "A lot of bands I've always been inspired by are just coming into play a little more. There's a lot of stuff that doesn't sound like Evanescence, but the heart of the band of still there. This is a really, really, rhythmically driven record. So there's tons of drum-programming fused with live drums."
Lee also sat down with Spin and discuss plans for the album and past drama surrounding Evanescence. "There's a lot of bullshit related to that band name for me, but I'm ready to move past it. I've realized that Evanescence is who I am." Battling through several line up changes and several other bad experiences, Lee is ready to move on to bigger and better things.
Spin starts off by asking why Evanescence is returning now after taking two whole years off. "For a long time I didn't know what I wanted to do. I really love scoring film and that was definitely where my head was. I took a few stabs at doing that, but then I started writing more songs. I had such a good time in the studio with Will Science Hunt recording 'Sally's Song' -- it was a cool, free, creative space. So we thought, 'Why don't we just try writing an original song?' He has a studio in Forth Worth, TX, and we spent two days down there writing and a new song came out that was so different -- it was dark and inspiring. It was a groove that I hadn't found in a long time. So we spent all of last year writing like crazy and somewhere halfway through I said, 'You know, I think we're writing an Evanescence album."
How did the hook up with studio extraordinare, Will "Science" Hunt, who also has the same name as a member in her band, come to be? Well, part of getting back to Evanescence was the new Will Hunt. I met this Will -- I call him Will "Science" Hunt because he does a lot of programming and beats -- when we recorded 'Sally's Song' for Nightmare Revisited"
The front-woman also mentions the first new song the group started writing together and its title. " 'Hi-Lo. ' It's a working title. It's going in an electro-pop direction -- there are no organic instruments. It's a Portishead or Massive Attack direction, and lyrically it's about moving on, but in a very non-confrontational, non-angry way. It's just, 'Hey, everything that happened, I'm over it and I'm not mad at you.' "
Fans will definitley be suprised by the new Evanscence, but still can expect the signature feel and sound. "Well, it's definitely still heavy. Like The Open Door, the new songs are a rainbow of sounds. But this album spreads out even more. There are moments that are amazingly heavy, but then there are moments that are completely stripped down."
How did the goth rockers start working with Grammy winning producer, Steve Lillywhite? "We decided it would be good to have another brain in the room to provide some perspective, since we've been living with the demos for so long. Steve Lillywhite randomly called my record label said, 'Hey, what's Amy Lee and Evanescence doing? I'd really like to work with her.' I thought that was really interesting. I honestly wouldn't have thought of him if he hadn't called. So we went to lunch and I showed him some of the songs. He really loved them and wanted to do it!"
Lee also discusses the plans she had for a solo album back in 2008, whatever happened to that? "I was in a very different creative space then, before hooking up with Will Science. I wrote a couple of songs that are good, but in a totally different direction. Nothing from that period is making it to the new record."
Spin.com asked how the singer felt about her ex-members forming We Are The Fallen, Lee had no choice words for them. "I don't have any. It doesn't have anything to do with me or Evanescence."
In other good news, Evanescence's first single "Bring Me To Life" from their debut studio album, "Fallen" has been certified platinum selling 2 million units! A huge congratulations to them!
Before we go, here's a video to get you hyped up for the new album!
Alice In Wonderland Is A Smash!
Submitted by NimrodOnElmStreet on Sun, 03/07/2010 - 18:08
Hey kids, so what were your plans this weekend? Did they include perhaps going to your local movie theater and watching "Alice In Wonderland" ? If so, you won't be surprised to find out that the movie has become a smash hit grossing $41 million on opening night alone and playing across 3,700 movie screens. Not to mention bringing in a total of $116 million on Oscar weekend!
Although there were some disappointing reviews, they did not stop audiences from heading out and enjoying this Tim Burton film. This takes the cake for the eighth biggest opening of all time, putting "Spider-Man" at number nine. "Even happier for Walt Disney Studios, 'Alice' found another $90 million outside the U.S. for a 3-D global cume of $210 million."
Coming in strong at number two was Overture Films, "Brooklyn's Finest", which brought in an unexpected $13.5 million on 1.900 screens. The significantly lower number of screens comes from the fact that the thriller had quite a bit of trouble finding a distributer even after impressive notices at the 2008 Toronto Film Festival. Overture have told HitFix that they are "elated" with the end results and this is their second consecutive hit after "The Crazies".
In third place, Martin Scorsese's flim, "Shutter Island" staring Leonardo Dicaprio ranked in $13.5 million. The movie now has a total of $95.8 million and should increase up to $100 million sometime during the week.
At number four is the police comedy, "Cop Out" raking in $9.1 million with a total gross of $32.3 million. The Kevin Smith directed film will probably end up making around $40 million, not too bad since it only took $30 Mill to make it.
Rounding out the top five is, the 3-D James Cameron flick, "Avatar". Taking home another $7.7 million and a new gross of $720.1 million and $2.55 billion globally.
Spanning over 147 screens in limited release, "The Ghost Writer" has made a pretty good $1.3 million with a total cume of $2.6 million. That number should ascend to $10 million if Summit Entertainment doesn't go wide in the next couple of weeks.
Will you be watching the 82nd Annual Academy Awards tonight?"Avatar", "The Blind Side", "District 9", "An Education", "The Hurt Locker", "Inglourious Basterds", "Precious", "A Serious Man", "Up" and "Up in the Air" are all up for The Best Picture category. The Oscars will be airing live tonight on ABC so don't miss it!
South Park To Premiere March 17th
Submitted by NimrodOnElmStreet on Sat, 03/06/2010 - 16:28
South Park is kicking off season 14 with all new episodes on March 17th on Comedy Central. Just a day before the new premiere, "South Park: The Complete Thirteenth Season Uncensored" will be out on DVD and Blu-Ray on Tuesday, March 16th. To make this a tad more special, this set will include deleted scenes for the first time ever!
The Emmy Award winning show also celebrates a milestone this time around on April 14th by celebrating their 200th episode. Also, this season will be available exclusively in HD on xBox LIVE, iTunes, Sony Playstation Network, Amazon Video on Demand as well as on SP's official site.
Adding on to the excitment, creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker sat down and discussed the influence their show has and not being anyone's "political allies".
When mentioning that the animated series has no political affiliation, Stone explains he would never want their show to lean to one side. "I would never want the show to be a Democrat show or Republican show, because for us the show's more important than that. It isn't for everybody else in the world, but it is for us. We don't want you to come to it thinking, 'These guys are going to bash liberals.' "
Parker adds on, "I look at it like this. I have a cat, I love my cat and it's like someone coming in and saying, 'Hey, is that cat a Republican or a Democrat?' He's my fucking cat, leave him alone."
Also, Matt and Trey are asked about which celebrity has had the most insane reaction to their work. "Well the craziest was probably Kanye last year. We thought we would be more like 'Holy shit should I get a body guard? Should I get a gun?' and instead the next day he wrote in all caps 'YEAH YOU GUYS ARE RIGHT. I'M SORRY,' "
Trey then explains his reaction to Kanye's emotional outburst and finds it really weird and unexpected. "We were like 'Dude, what?' and for the first time it made us feel bad. If Sean Penn is like, 'Hey what do they think they're doing. We're just like, 'Hey dude, fuck you.' But for someone to actually say, 'Yeah it really hurt my feelings and I really should look at myself,' it's kind of like punching the kid and then he just sits there and cries."
What's next for the outrageous South Park? This coming season they're planning some pretty cool twists and turns. "A big Tiger Woods show, sort of a Tiger Woods show that isn't a Tiger Woods show."
Look for South Park March 17th at 10pm est on Comedy Central!

Kelly Clarkson's "All I Ever Wanted" As New Single
Submitted by NimrodOnElmStreet on Thu, 03/04/2010 - 11:33
Kelly Clarkson is releasing the title track from her fourth album, "All I Ever Wanted", which was originally written and performed by Oklahoma natives, Aranda.
The groovy, funky tune is a scathing love song on a "damaged relationship full of repeated forgiveness and second chances".
This album is Clarkson's second one to hit at number one on the Billboard 200 and also features other hit singles such as "My Life Would Suck Without You", "I Do Not Hook Up" and "Already Gone".
Kelly is also working on a new album to be released sometime this fall or winter. She describes the sound as really different and unlike anything she's ever done before. "It's almost like Garbage-meets-pop-meets-Muse. It's a little different." Can't wait for that!
Before I let you go, here's a clip of the new song, "All I Ever Wanted". Enjoy!
Muse "Under Review" DVD Coming Later This Month
Submitted by NimrodOnElmStreet on Wed, 03/03/2010 - 14:10
Muse will release a DVD called "Under Review", which highlights their entire career on March 23rd and will feature rare concert and interview footage of the British rock trio.
There will also be contributions from their friends and family who lived and have written about their amazing journey to global fame. Along with this, there will also be never before seen photos, news reports and other fantastic features to create a really one of a kind documentary.
In addition, there will be interviews with former managers, producers, close confidantes, band engineers, video directors and biographer Mark Beaumont. The awesome DVD can be purchased at seeofsound.com!
On a side note, Muse is quite disappointed in their label, Warner Music, at the moment for removing their music off illegal downloading sites such as, Spotify.
Chris Wolstenholme, bass player for the band, thinks it will surely reduce their fan base. "It's like taking your song off the radio, isn't it? You're instantly taking your song away from a group of potential listeners."
He has also insisted that the decision to remove free music is hardly the artists choice and accusses the music industry of doing anything to boost any revenue. "The corporations are setting the rules on these things because they're clutching at straws."
"They've lost so much money on record sales because of the internet. I do sometimes feel that this whole restriction that's been set on how your music can get out there these days that doesn't ever really come from the bands. It's coming from the corporations behind everything. As far as bands are concerned you just want people to hear your music whichever way they can."
Wolstenholme's brutally honest comments come after Edgar Bronfman, Warner Music CEO has stated that streaming music is dangerous for the music industry. "Free streaming services are clearly not positive for the industry and as far as Warner Music is concerned songs will not be licensed."
